Automatic Air Dryer is a device for removing moisture and observes the water in the compressor air and supplies clean dry air to locomotive equipments.

Automatic Air Dryer operates on a cyclic basis using two desiccant chambers. The first desiccant chamber purges moisture collected during the half cycle to atmosphere while the second side chamber supplies dry air to the pneumatic system. In the next half cycle the operation reserves and the first side supplies dry air while the second chamber purges. Cycling of operation actuated by pneumatic control valve which also operates the drain valve alternatively. The pneumatic control valve timer purely pneumatic control and No Electrical controls are required.
